WHAT WILL I NEED WHEN COLLECTING MY CAR?

  • Credit card in the driver’s name
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Passport for Foreign Nationals or Zimbabwean ID

If you are in possession of a pre-paid voucher, the same credit card used to secure the booking must be produced, as well as the pre-paid voucher (unless it is stipulated that no voucher is required).

WHEN DO I PAY FOR MY RENTAL CAR?

On collection of the vehicle at the AVIS Rental Counter.

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY RENTAL CAR?

AVIS accepts VISA, MasterCard and American Express Credit Cards and AVIS Central Billing Vouchers.

If you have pre-paid for your rental online, you will need to produce the same credit card used to secure the booking.

If payment is made with a credit card, AVIS will obtain authorisation for the estimated cost of rental on collection of the vehicle.  On termination of the rental, final charges will be debited from your card against that authorisation code.

If the rental is to be charged to an AVIS Central Billing Account, the renter must produce a voucher from the Account Holder.  If the voucher is a Fixed Value voucher, the renter must produce a credit card to cover extras that are not included in the voucher value (i.e. fuel, One Way Rental Fees, any damage to the vehicle etc.)

DOES AVIS TAKE A DEPOSIT ON MY CREDIT CARD?

CAN I REQUEST A SPECIFIC VEHICLE MAKE AND MODEL BEFORE MY RENTAL?

AVIS does not guarantee make / model of vehicles, however, your preference will be noted and AVIS will supply the preferred vehicle should it be available.

CAN I EXTEND MY RENTAL AFTER COLLECTING THE CAR?

Should you wish to extend your rental, please contact AVIS with your Rental Agreement Number and the new drop off date and time. If the rental is being paid for with a Credit Card, AVIS will obtain additional authorisation to cover the additional rental period. If the rental is on an account, AVIS will require an extension voucher from the account holder.

WILL THERE BE FUEL IN MY RENTAL CAR?

AVIS vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel.

Fuel is not included in the rates, so if the vehicle is not returned with a full tank of fuel, AVIS will refuel the vehicle and charge the fuel on the invoice. Please note that the price AVIS charges for fuel is higher than that charged at fuel stations, to cover administration costs.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT?

Standard procedures need to be followed with all accidents:

  • Obtain names and addresses of everyone involved, including witnesses if any.
  • We also recommend taking photos of the accident to assist with your claim.
  • Notify the Police and AVIS as soon as possible, (at most, within 24 hours of the incident.)
  • Submit a copy of the driver’s licence to AVIS and complete an Accident Report Form within 48 hours of the incident
